Both wig wearers with hair and without hair often choose to wear a wig cap beneath the wig as a base layer.
If you do not have hair, a wig cap provides a foundation for the wig and enables you to clip the wig to the wig cap if you desire. If you do have hair, a wig cap will help you hide your existing hair so it will not protrude out from under a wig.
Examine the wig cap to determine the front edge of the wig cap that fits along your forehead and the back edge of the wig cap that fits along the nape of your neck. One or both of these edges are usually marked.
Hold the wig cap with one hand on each side edge and the back of the wig cap facing up toward you.
Pull the wig cap over your head starting with the front of the wig cap at the top of your forehead. Place the front of the wig cap at the point where your front natural hairline would be.
Continue pulling the wig cap over your head, stretching the wig cap over your head to position the back of the wig cap at the nape of your neck.
Pull the sides of the wig cap down so they are behind your ears.
Tuck in any existing hair beneath the wig cap around front, back and side edges of the wig cap.
Adjust the wig cap on your head so the front of the wig cap starts at your natural hairline, the back of the wig cap extends down to the nape of your neck and the sides tuck behind your ears. Check to make sure no wisps of hair poke out from under the wig cap.
