These aren’t your grandma’s pincurls — pump up your va-voom volume with a full head of fabulous Velcro-set curls.

These hair-grabbing go-tos, though typically relegated to wave enhancement and adding extra height to flattering straight styles today, can set you up with a to-die-for curl set. Protect your pretty locks from the damaging heat of electric curling irons or hot rollers and start off your mind-blowingly chic curly coif with these convenient curlers.

Step 1

Pat down freshly washed hair with a clean towel to remove excess moisture, then dry it completely with a hair dryer set to a medium heat.

Dry only partially if you want waves, rather than curls.

Step 2

Part your hair and comb it out, then separate the hair into five main sections.

Create a section at the front, one at the crown, one on each side of the head and one at the nape of the neck. Clip the top sections out of the way with styling clips.

Step 3

Take a 2-inch-wide section of hair from the nape section and comb it smooth.

Heat the section briefly with the hair dryer on a high-heat setting, then spritz it with curl-setting spray.

Step 4

Place a Velcro curler against the hair tips.

Roll the curler downward, curling the hair section under, until it reaches the scalp. Slide a roller clip over the underside of the curler to help it stay in place.

Step 5

Create 2-inch-wide curls all over the nape section, then take down the crown section and repeat the process.

Make identical curls on the side and front sections, rolling all curls away from the face.

Step 6

Turn the hair dryer to a cool setting.

Direct the air flow over each curl for 2 to 3 seconds to help it set.
